The following will explain the USB-Driver Update for our USC-Cards/USB-Dongles.

•The USB-Driver was updated from SAMLight version 3.9.5.0043 to version 3.9.5.0044.

•Until September 2022 it is possible to provide passwords compatible with the old USB-Driver. Since January 2022, provided passwords are only compatible to the new USB-Driver. The new passwords don’t allow the use of SAMLight versions older than 3.9.5.0044 in general (independent of USC or USB dongle).

•The restriction is unidirectional. Old passwords work with all versions including our new versions with the new USB driver.

•If not differently specified by the customer, new passwords will be always generated from now on for any ordered license.

oFor new systems, old passwords compatible with old versions can be generated only until September 2022. If you need such a password, please specify so in your order.

oFor old systems which are already licensed with any password, update with old passwords is possible even after September 2022. These systems are not affected. We kindly ask you to let us know if you want such an old password already with your order.

•If you update from one SAMLight version to another SAMLight version, customer specified settings (like laser parameters, pen parameters, MOTF setup …) are not changed or touched in any way. Usually, it should not be necessary to redo the entire configuration.

•Also if you update the Firmware of a USC card, the customized settings will not be touched.
