Up to SAMLight version v_3_8_5_0069 SAMLight will automatically launch in Demo mode if no Dongle is detected or SAMLight is hidden.

Since version v_3_8_5_0070 the user can manually enable the Demo mode. Otherwise SAMLight will no launch and wait for the user input.
